Job Description

Assemble, install, or maintain solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on roofs or other structures in compliance with site assessment and schematics. May include measuring, cutting, assembling, and bolting structural framing and solar modules.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • The ideal candidate will work cooperatively with team members to successfully complete the installation and maintenance of energy products safely and on time
  • Install photovoltaic (PV) systems in accordance with codes and standards using drawings, schematics, and instructions.
    • Install solar energy systems.
  • Assemble solar modules, panels, or support structures, as specified.
    • Install solar energy systems.
  • Apply weather sealing to array, building, or support mechanisms.
    • Apply sealants or other protective coatings.
  • Determine appropriate sizes, ratings, and locations for all system overcurrent devices, disconnect devices, grounding equipment, and surge suppression equipment.
    • Determine appropriate locations for operations or installations.
    • Select construction materials.
  • Install module array interconnect wiring, implementing measures to disable arrays during installation.
    • Install electrical components, equipment, or systems.
  • Identify methods for laying out, orienting, and mounting modules or arrays to ensure efficient installation, electrical configuration, or system maintenance.
    • Determine construction project layouts.
  • Identify electrical, environmental, and safety hazards associated with photovoltaic (PV) installations.
    • Install solar energy systems.
  • Examine designs to determine current requirements for all parts of the photovoltaic (PV) system electrical circuit.
    • Review blueprints or specifications to determine work requirements.
  • Check electrical installation for proper wiring, polarity, grounding, or integrity of terminations.
    • Inspect electrical or electronic systems for defects.
  • Test operating voltages to ensure operation within acceptable limits for power conditioning equipment, such as inverters and controllers.
    • Test electrical equipment or systems to ensure proper functioning.
  • Identify and resolve any deficiencies in photovoltaic (PV) system installation or materials.
    • Install solar energy systems.
  • Program, adjust, or configure inverters and controls for desired set points and operating modes.
    • Install solar energy systems.
  • Identify installation locations with proper orientation, area, solar access, or structural integrity for photovoltaic (PV) arrays.
    • Determine appropriate locations for operations or installations.
  • Visually inspect and test photovoltaic (PV) modules or systems.
    • Test green technology installations to verify performance.
    • Inspect electrical or electronic systems for defects.
  • Install required labels on solar system components and hardware.
    • Apply identification labels or tags.
  • Determine photovoltaic (PV) system designs or configurations based on factors such as customer needs, expectations, and site conditions.
    • Determine construction project layouts.
  • Determine materials, equipment, and installation sequences necessary to maximize installation efficiency.
    • Select construction materials.
    • Select construction equipment.
  • Diagram layouts and locations for photovoltaic (PV) arrays and equipment, including existing building or site features.
    • Create construction or installation diagrams.
  • Determine connection interfaces for additional subpanels or for connecting photovoltaic (PV) systems with utility services or other power generation sources.
    • Determine construction project layouts.
  • Perform routine photovoltaic (PV) system maintenance on modules, arrays, batteries, power conditioning equipment, safety systems, structural systems, weather sealing, or balance of systems equipment.
    • Maintain mechanical equipment.
  • Install active solar systems, including solar collectors, concentrators, pumps, or fans.
    • Install solar energy systems.
  • Activate/commission photovoltaic (PV) systems to verify system functionality and conformity to performance expectations.
    • Test installations to verify performance.
  • Select mechanical designs, installation equipment, or installation plans that conform to environmental, architectural, structural, site, and code requirements.
    • Determine construction project layouts.
  • Demonstrate system functionality and performance, including start-up, shut-down, normal operation, and emergency or bypass operations.
    • Test green technology installations to verify performance.
  • Measure and analyze system performance and operating parameters to assess operating condition of systems or equipment.
    • Test green technology installations to verify performance.
  • Compile or maintain records of system operation, performance, and maintenance.
    • Record operational or environmental data.
  • Collaborates with procurement team to ensure all materials and equipment necessary for installation are available onsite and communicates job status to customer and leadership
  • Completing all business-related tasks assigned through the internal project management platform
  • Promote the Company whenever engaging in networking and social events
  • Innovate new ideas and improvements to Company processes
  • Wear many hats supporting other aspects of the company as tasks come up and company needs support in different departments
  • Provide an 11AM check in message via requested platform
  • Attend any meetings, events, or conferences as requested by the Company
  • When communicating with customers, investors, & partners via calls, meetings, texts, and emails, a record of the dialogue and communication with those contacts is required to be logged into Breiter Planet’s CRM within 24 hours of communication occurring.
  • Work during hours provided by Breiter Planet Properties based on regional workload and project schedules
  • Contractor must be able to travel for up to 2 weeks at a time, several times a year, to various locations within the US.
  • Travel is mandatory to every job site.

 

Qualifications / Preferred Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical school training preferred
  • Must be able to work at great heights including on rooftops, climbing ladders, and stairs
  • Must be able to work in extreme environmental (example: hot sun, cold, snow, rain, crawl spaces, attic etc.
  • Prolonged periods of repetitious duties including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds frequently
  • Strong organizational and project management skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Great personality and sense of humor
  • Experience in roof work, general construction, or carpentry preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical wiring and equipment
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read building plans and equipment manuals
  • Ability to safely handle power tools and hand tools as well as materials such as: ladders, inverters, solar panels, panel boards, batteries, and other similar electric equipment, lumber, roofing materials, etc.
  • Able to bend conduit unassisted
  • Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment

 

Job Type

Contract based to start with the ability to progress into full time employment based on quality of work, ability to complete tasks, and overall mutual experience Breiter Planet has with contractor.

 

Compensation

  • $35/hour paid bi-weekly
  • There is no guarantee of hours received and its entirely based on the company’s workload which may progress into full time employment
